From Medieval Latin syllabizō, from Ancient Greek σῠλλᾰβῐ́ζω (sŭllăbĭ́zō), from σῠλλᾰβή (sŭllăbḗ, “syllable”) + -ῐ́ζω (-ĭ́zō, “-ize”).
